It may sound like a tired cliché, but it’s a reality that’s happening: we are in danger of losing the planet that sustains us, the Earth that serves as our life-support system. The air is getting blacker, the waters murkier, the mountains balder and flatter, and ecological balance tipping more and more towards disaster. And the frightening thing is, so many people don’t know about it, and even more people just don’t care, as long as their needs are met in the present.

Meanwhile, thousands of communities out there are helpless, struggling daily to find food in an underwater desert that used to be coral reefs, in the concrete subdivisions and factories that used to be fertile farms. They need our help. They need YOUR help.

How can you help, you say? We believe everyone has something to offer. All you need is a heart for the environment and the willingness to share whatever you have.

You can:

1. Share your time and talents:
Technical knowledge in biology, engineering, economics, law, sociology, and other fields

We need experts who can help us research on the biophysical and social impacts of destructive industries so that communities have a stronger, more informed stand on the projects they want to keep out of their backyards. Much of the success of our advocacy work and legal assistance in the past has relied heavily on our committed volunteer scientists and lawyers. Student interns are very welcome, too.

Skills and talents in events organizing, publicity and promotions, database management, translation, desktop publishing, video editing, graphic design, entertainment, etc.
Because of our limited number of staff, we cannot do everything. We need people with special skills in creating materials and organizing activities for our advocacy, education & training, and other programs. You say acting is just a hobby for you? It might be just what we need to teach fisherfolk in Samar how to arrest illegal commercial fishers.

Network in the media, business, church, academe, and other sectors
You think you have nothing to share because you have no special knowledge or talents? As we said, everyone has something to offer. You can move your network of friends to spread the word about what’s happening to our Earth. And if you live in the places where we work, you can help us gather support for activities like coastal clean-ups, fundraising concerts, the passage of an environment-friendly law, and other things that will let more people know about their right to a clean and healthy environment.

2. Share your financial and material blessings:
Equipment like printers, laptops, digital cameras, multimedia projectors, cellphones...

Or even typewriters :) Most of the equipment we need are for communications and documentation/ publication, because these are necessary to keep in touch with our communities, many of which are in the farthest corners of the Philippines. Cellphones and cameras allow them to give urgent updates on and crucial documentation of environmental law violations in their areas.

Information and education materials like books, references, video documentaries, posters and magazines
If you have materials that can help communities learn more about taking care of the environment, send them over!

Funds
They say money makes the world go ‘round. We may not entirely agree, but yes, it does help us cover the expenses of our staff and volunteers who go on perilous journeys to remote villages. With your donation, we can educate communities to fight for their rights, ancestral land, and resources. We can monitor pro-environment laws and ensure their swift implementation. We can breathe life anew into long denuded forests and poisoned rivers. We can give hope to people driven out of these very domains by the mounting destruction. We can do all of this and much more.

We look forward to working with you. Be part of the fight for our only planet. Together we can help more communities defend the Earth!
